Remembering: The Palette Of Fabric

By Lynn

TIF February designI am ready to dive into the creation of my February Take It Further challenge. I have assembled the palette of fabric for the project and I’ve made all pattern pieces. I thought about doing this project with foundation piecing but decided against it.

The design concept and theme for this challenge is discussed in a previous blog entry: Remembering: The Springboard For Design. (And to see the developing work of other Take It Further participants, navigate blog-to-blog in the Take It Further webring located at the lower right column of this blog.)

Today, I’ll be cutting into the fabrics I selected. The commercially dyed fabric at the bottom of the photo will be used in the background. I think. There is such color variety in this piece that I’m unsure if I can use this fabric to show movement or if I will need to keep the background subdued. On the design wall, I will be able to see this more clearly.

Fabrics for February TIF challenge

I must admit that I had hesitated getting into my fabric stash for this challenge project. I honestly didn’t think that I would have all of the fabrics. This project needed fabrics with the right color saturation.

Once I started to gather fabrics in my stash, I was surprised to find that I had all of the fabrics that were needed. Shopping for fabric couldn’t have been any easier.

Sometimes an obscene fabric stash is a good thing…..

This will be gorgeous. I have a nice stash of batiks and I need to get the nerve to cut into them…maybe next month’s challenge. I can’t wait to see your first block. I’ve been using your silk embroidery twist on my challenge this month and will share a photo soon.
