About My Blog

The Fiber Fantasies Blog is a new blog here at WordPress, and even though there aren’t many bells-n-whistles, this spot here at WordPress is going to be my new blog-home.

I’ve held a website and my blog was within the website. Since I have been a web designer and professional web content writer, it wasn’t difficult to maintain my own website for a number of years. But, when my website host, Aplus.net, was unable to repair the embedded bug within the Serendipity blog software (no ability to add sidebar plugins, info or links), I decided to quit them. You see, my website host began outsourcing to India, and there is no such thing as good customer service now.  And I’m not going to stress out trying to understand someone who cannot speak English clearly.  (What ever happened to good customer service skills, anyway??)

During February 2007, my large website and my blog will be dismantled. The end of this month will mark the first time in 11 years that I have not managed or maintained a website at all.  Quite honestly, blogs are doing a good job of replacing many websites. So, here I go again…..

Okay, now I am setting up blog residency at WordPress, starting up my Fiber Fantasies Blog. The ‘blank slate’ is unnerving…..I will need to bring a bit of my old web content in. Besides the main focus on fiber related arts and crafts, sometimes I’ll share an orchid photo or a breathtaking scene I’ve photographed somewhere. I’ll get my new blog up-n-running very soon so stick around — I can guarantee a piece of eye candy every so often.

I am interrrestted in finding an old pattern for a Turtle Pillow. The # was 504 and was published in our local paper in 1977. I was interested in making this and wondered if the pattern was still available. Thank you

Lynn, What a great place to visit! I would say it’s much more than a “blog”, and I do agree with you on customer service. I really enjoyed the story about the quilt a century in the making. I’m sure the quilter would be more than pleased to see the final result of the collaboration. Bev

    Hi Lynn,
I came to your Blog via good friend Gayle’s Sparkle Jars blog and love seeing what you’re doing. Gayle showed her version of Hodgepodge and when I saw it, I thought it would be a good program for the Truckee Meadows Quilters (Reno, NV) Evening Group program.

TMQ makes hundreds of 24″ square quilts for the neonatal units of two local hospitals - Hodgepodge would be a great pattern for the itty-bitties. The quilts go to each tiny patient and are used to cover the issolettes so that the bright lights of the neonatal intensive care unit are mitigated somewhat. The quilts go home with the babies or go to the parents of babies who do not survive.

With that in mind, could you grant me permission to use the material on your Blog to work up a lesson plan? Typically the program involves a show and tell presentation and a hand-out. I would of course, give you full credit.

    Thanks very much!

My Honey was looking up McFann family history stuff when he came across an entry on your blog related to your McFann ancestors and called me over to take a look. I was very excited when I read several of your posts.

Given my passion for vintage sewing, etc., I do believe I’m going to enjoy reading your blog.

    Best,
    Julie-Ann
