Night Rain
May 18, 2008After the night rain, I take an early Sunday morning stroll around my gardens. The air is fresh and cool, the world about me, quiet. From within the gardens I tend, so many blossoms have tasted this night rain. Standing tallest in the gardens are Irises, their colors harmonizing with other plants nearby. Raindrops are perched on the petals, still clinging, as if posing for the camera.

‘Edna’, purchased because of the name, but now coveted for the color combination. My first memories of playing with a friend was with a girl named Edna. A beautiful Iris for a sweet little girl.

Mauve, gold, and a blending of beige with lavender…

Rich shades of burgundy with a touch of gold.
Any wonder why this beautiful Iris (below) is called ‘Queen In Calico’?

Fuschia and orange, a favorite color combination!

And isn’t this Iris beautiful ?

Even the names of some Irises are intriguing. This one is ‘Devil’s Fork’.
And who can resist the deep ultraviolet of this Iris?
